The annual Wernddu Golf Club Charity Day, sponsored by Phillip Goode Funeral Directors, was held on Saturday 7th June. The prepartion started early on the day as the sun rose and continued to shine for the whole day. With 41 teams entered the day was a resounding success with £4280 being raised for Velindre Hospital in Cardiff. The overall winners were the team named The Four Failures with 132 pts, for a full results listing see the competition section of the website.
Once again a BIG THANK YOU to all of the sponsors and competitors for making the day one to remember.

This year Ralph’s Trophy was based on a medal competition with full handicap. With over 50 entries for this competiton the first group teed off at 8.10am Sunday Morning. The course was playing a little hard than usual due to the CSS being 70. This competition was closely contested with the second to fourth place being covered by only 3 strokes nett. The outright winner with an amazing -14 was J Davies (a new member to Wernddu) playing off a handicap of 18, or should I say was playing of a handicap of 18. Please check what the Handicap Secretary has put you off now.

2. Gav Phillips - 63 nett (73 gross)
3. K. Powell - 64 nett (80 gross)

This competition is played as a 3 ball Texas scramble with a handicap of 1/8 combined. Again the golfing gods were looking out for us, as the sun was out for the first day of June. With over twenty teams entered, the cousre in excellent condition play commenced. With numerous teams having birdies the winners in the club house turned out to be the team of single handicap players, winning by just 1 stroke :-
1. R. Lawson, N. Taylor, T. Smith - 58 nett
2. L. Ralp, M. Powell, L. Turvey - 59 nett (count back)
